The Weekly Word at St. Benilde 5.26.21
In honor of the Year of the Eucharist & St. Joseph, the Archdiocese of New Orleans held an Art Contest this past April. Out of over 100 entries, 26 artworks were selected as finalists. Created by both adults and youth, these masterpieces utilized different approaches, styles, and mediums to capture the great gift of the Eucharist. The art will be on display at the Archdiocesan Administrative Offices located at 7887 Walmsley Ave throughout the summer and will travel throughout the archdiocese in the fall. You can also view the artwork electronically by clicking the button below.

On Sunday, May 24, St. Benilde CYO met for its monthly gathering. To celebrate Pentecost, they built a big fire, heard a talk on the power of the Holy Spirit from Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry Timmy McCaffery, burned last year's Paschal Candle, and had birthday cake and s'mores.

Out of sincere appreciation for the gift of Fr. Matthew Johnston's spiritual fatherhood and in honor of the June 7 anniversary of his priestly ordination, we are inviting all St. Benilde parishioners to participate in a Spiritual Bouquet.
For those unfamiliar with the practice of Spiritual Bouquets, these are prayers or devotional acts that someone (the giver) has or will offer for someone else (the recipient). This can be the number of Masses attended, Holy Communions offered, Rosaries and/or other prayers said, or even good deeds performed. This is a special way for us to join together in prayer--spiritually supporting our pastor who does so much for us all.
